The State Theatre Košice learnt with great sadness that long-time member of the Ballet Company and theatre photographer Ondrej Béreš died on Saturday, December 11th, aged 89. He was an active member of the ballet ensemble from 1955 to 1976; and performed in more than forty ballet and opera stage productions. In addition to his dancing career in the theatre, he also worked as the theatre’s photographer all over his active years. He did hundreds, even thousands of photographic records of opera, drama, and ballet productions that are today part of rich photo archives of the State Theatre Košice. His photos are regularly used for media presentations of the theatre, as well as in professional journals dedicated to the history of theatre in Košice and Slovakia.
