Programme Changes in March and April at the National Theatre Košice

The National Theatre Košice announces that, due to technical reasons, the premieres of the drama production Noises Off by Michael Frayn and the ballet production Le Corsaire by Adolphe Adam have been postponed. For this reason, several additional performances have been added to the March and April programme.

On Wednesday 18 March at 7:00 p.m., we will present the audience-favourite comedy The Flea in Her Ear by Georges Feydeau. The plot revolves around the supposed infidelity of faithful spouses after someone plants a “flea in their ear”.

On Saturday 21 March at 4:00 p.m., we will stage the ballet fairy tale The Little Prince based on the work of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. This poetic story about a pilot and his encounter with a miraculous boy from a distant planet reveals profound truths about love, friendship, and seeing the world with one’s heart.

On Friday 27 March at 7:00 p.m., we will present a unique combination of opera and drama in the production La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi / The Lady of the Camellias by Alexandre Dumas fils. Two unforgettable stories , two tragic destinies. The story of the Parisian courtesan Violetta, who sacrifices her love for the young Alfredo in order to escape the pressure of his family, only to succumb in the end to an incurable illness, as told by the renowned Italian composer; alongside the equally tragic love between the Parisian courtesan Marguerite Gautier and the young Armand Duval, as depicted by the French writer.

On Saturday 28 March at 7:00 p.m., we will present the production of the classic Slovak comedy Adventure at the Harvest Festival by Ján Palárik. A double exchange of identities during the harvest celebrations creates space for sincere love regardless of social status.

On Sunday 12 April at 4:00 p.m., we will present a special version of Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute for Children. This children’s adaptation is tailored to young audiences and features enchanting visual effects, playful dialogue and interactive elements that ensure an unforgettable theatrical experience. However, the adapted version offers a fully-fledged artistic experience, regardless of age.

On Wednesday 15 April and Thursday 16 April at 7:00 p.m., we will present two ballet works by Akram Khan: Kaash / Dust. The acclaimed choreography Kaash (2002) builds bridges between contemporary dance and the Indian classical dance form Kathak. The powerful and topical choreography Dust reflects on the First World War and the role of women within it.

On Tuesday 28 April at 7:00 p.m., we will present one of the most famous classical ballets, Swan Lake by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The tragic love story of Prince Siegfried and the enchanted swan princess Odette – whose happiness is ruined by the evil sorcerer Rothbart and his daughter Odile – is a dream for every choreographer, director and performer.

On Wednesday 29 April at 7:00 p.m., we will stage the drama Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. Professor of phonetics Henry Higgins makes a bet that he can transform the poor flower girl Eliza into a true lady. What begins as a seemingly innocent game becomes a dangerous gamble with a woman’s identity and personality.

In April 2026, two originally scheduled performances in the Historical Building of the National Theatre Košice will be replaced with titles from the theatre’s current repertoire.

On Saturday 11 April at 7:00 p.m., we will present Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw.

On Friday 17 April at 7:00 p.m., we will stage the brilliant farce Tom, Dick and Harry by Ray Cooney and Michael Cooney. What can happen when a childless couple decides to adopt a child? A seemingly formal procedure becomes complicated when the husband’s two eccentric brothers decide to get involved.

Tickets purchased for the originally scheduled performances on these dates remain valid. If you choose to use them, you will certainly not miss out on a wonderful theatrical experience and plenty of entertainment. If you prefer not to attend, you may return the tickets at the NDKE box office. Tickets purchased online via the Colosseum Ticket portal may be returned by sending an email to zuzana.takac@sdke.sk together with your IBAN account number no later than Tuesday 31 March.
