Famous folk musical

Premiere

Malá scéna

For this play, Ernest Bryll and Katarzyna Gärtnerová chose a form of scenic ballad about "brave" bandit Jánošík, in which they portrayed Jánošík's birth, love and death in epic-lyrical way. The play can easily be called a "folk musical" or a folk beat musical. Throughout the play, the features of folk philosophy are captured, the text and music are a synthesis of fine lyrics and rustic naivety. The play has been very successful ever since its premiere in  Wrocław on March 17, 1970. It is one of the most played plays in Slovakia. The play is intended not only for the evening spectator, but also for young people.
