The Queen of Scotland, Catholic Mary Stuart, was charged with conspiracy against Elizabeth I and the murder of her second husband. At Schiller, we meet a passionate woman, but also as a penitent, reconciled to death. Elizabeth I, as a virgin queen, is a proud, cold opponent for power, but also in love. The moment she signs Mary Stuart's death sentence, she wins politically but loses morally. There is no relief, no peace, no satisfaction. Friedrich Schiller created a captivating drama about politics, love, faith, the complexity inside us, the complexity of politicians' decisions and the sacrifices that accompany their decisions. The romantic drama about a fateful meeting in the life of two great rulers will be directed by Slovenian director Diego de Brea.
